CRC serves 4th and 5th graders at Cactus Valley Elementary School in rural Silt, Colorado.
Each student receives a half-day of educational programming on Fridays, including violin, literacy, and art instruction as well as lunch.
Weekly programming runs throughout the school year, with new 4th graders starting in January each year.
This is a tough time for public schools everywhere, and the Garfield Re-2 school district is no exception. CVE operates on a 4-day school week, allowing for additional educational programming for in-need students on Fridays. Providing tuition-free music, literacy, and art education to children, Creative Roots Collective provides access to the social, emotional, and intellectual benefits of all three pilars of our program.
Our pilot year students from the 2021-2022 school year have graduated to middle school! The Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra is continuing their music education and offering a pre-youth orchestra program after school for them and we are so excited to see their progress!
We started our second year students in January 2023. This class started 4th grade students and will continue through their 5th grade year. Once they graduate in June 2024 they will go on to middle school and other music programs. A new group of 4th grade students will be started every January.
